How do I become a member of Tadley Men’s Shed?

Just come along and say hello, or introduce yourself via Facebook or our Contact form if you prefer. We will give you a tour of the shed and can make it as quick or as long as you like.

You are very welcome to come along for multiple sessions as a guest. There is no pressure to join straight away, we just like meeting new people! Our membership form will be ready when you are.

Are women welcome at the Men’s Shed?

Absolutely, YES. The title ‘Men’s Shed’ is a well-recognised description of our ethos, but many (most?) sheds welcome all humans that show an interest in the activities that draw Shedders together.

We do have female members, but in truth we (and most?) Sheds seem to attract a limited demographic – maybe you can be part of the revolution?

Is there a cost involved in becoming a member?

Yes, members pay a monthly subscription. It is very modest, and there is a reduced rate for those that prefer to simply ‘supervise’ with a cup of tea and a biscuit in hand! We are very happy to reduce fees further for those with limited means – have a quiet word with any of the committee, no problem.

There is no additional per-session charge, but an honesty box is present for those that wish to contribute to the tea and biscuits overhead.

How much access do members have to the Shed resources?

The Shed tools and materials are communal resources. Members can use them as much as they like, as long as they are considerate and respectful of the rest of the group. All resources are available to all members outside of normal sessions, but with a few practical restrictions.

Lots of Shed materials are available for personal projects, but be thoughtful when claiming the nicest bits of wood! Members are also encouraged to borrow tools for use at home, but please try not to limit what others are able to work on.
