About Tadley Men's Shed

Tadley Men's Shed was formed as an idea in the spring of 2020. It was felt that there was the opportunity to provide a place in Tadley to pursue practical interests at leisure, to practice skills and enjoy making and mending.

Men’s Sheds (or Sheds) are about social connections and friendship building, sharing skills and knowledge, and of course a lot of laughter. All helping to improve the well being of those meeting together. Something that is particularly needed as we begin 2021 still in the clutches of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tadley Men's Shed was going to be developed in the spring of 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic brought our plans to a halt.

We decided late last in 2020 that it would be good to at least see if there was interest in the Tadley area for a Men's Shed, so we thought we would put out some publicity, setup a Zoom meeting and see what would happen.

The first Zoom meeting took place on 8th January 2021 with 18 of us joining and introducing ourselves. We had our second Zoom meeting on the 22nd January 2021 where Mike from Basingstoke Shed gave us a presentation about how their shed came about and has developed. We continued to meet regularly via Zoom where we enjoyed presentations covering a wide variety of topics. (Check out recordings of the meetings on Youtube).

We had our first face to face meeting on 9th July 2021 and we have identified a suitable location for our shed, have Planning Permission, raised funds and now have a Portacabin located at St Mary's church, Tadley. It is currently being fitted out with additional power points and connections to accommodate our machine tools. Once complete then we will be able to have the workshop open to members most days of the week. (with appropriate H & S Considerations of course)
